💎FAIL💎 is out & MASS is open for pre-orders!

Hello, friends!
We're so proud to share "FAIL" with you today, the second single from our forthcoming album. We're also excited to tell you that the album is called MASS, and you can finally pre-order it!

"FAIL" is a one-sided conversation between Buick and her longtime friend Marc Orleans who died by suicide in 2020. The song grapples with speaking about him in the past tense, hoping he knew how much she cared about and respected him when he was alive, and wondering if he can see and hear her now. The video (shot and directed by Jerry) premiered in Metal Injection yesterday, and the track is now streaming everywhere. We hope you love it. The cover is a photo of Buick at Walden Pond as a teenager, layered with a photo of Marc's hands playing his resonator guitar. The images are inverted and upside-down to express the unmooring impact of his passing.

MASS is a co-production between us and Kurt Ballou, a concept record that we're going to continue to unspool over the coming months. It feels great to share the pre-order for the physical copies of the work, as well as the book that Buick has written to accompany the music. It's called MASS: Essays on Memory, Language, & the State of Massachusetts. Both projects will be out in September. We recommend ordering them now, as there are some very limited merch offerings, including hand-rendered cyanotype prints—all numbered and signed!

The new record is a collection about memory, language, and the state of Massachusetts; a co-production between us and Kurt Ballou. The project was prompted by the suicide of one of Buick Audra's longtime friends, and "FAIL" directly addresses that loss.

💎BLUE💎 is out today - first single from the new album!

💎BLUE💎 is out today! This is the lead single from our new body of work, a collection about memory, language, and the state of Massachusetts. A co-production between us and Kurt Ballou. We hope you love it!

“If you don’t yet have the language for what you want to say, you will.”
 
This is the thesis statement contained within “BLUE," which opens the forthcoming record. The work explores finding new vocabulary around lived experiences that were once cloudy and confusing for Buick Audra. We're so excited to share the first piece of this story. She says:

“Writing this project was largely prompted by the suicide of an old Boston friend. When he died, I glanced back at things I’d never wanted to, and I wrote a whole record about it. The process was like going underwater for short bursts and coming back up for air when I needed to. While I was down there, I was like, I suddenly see what all of this was, and I’m going to name it now.”

The video, which Jerry Roe shot, directed, and edited, premiered at CVLT Nation yesterday!

New album coming in 2023!

Just a quick message to tell you three things:

1. Our third full-length album will release this year (!!!!) and we can't wait to start sharing the music with you very soon. In the meantime, Buick has started publishing the second half of the Massachusetts Memories series. The pieces are connected to the music; check them out!

2. We have a handful of sizes left in shirt designs related to the HOLD ON TO YOURSELF and BILL records, and we're making them all ten dollars today for the first Bandcamp Friday of the year! These won't be re-printed, so grab what you want!

As promised, we're thrilled to share our new single, "AND IF MY BODY," with you today. This is a work of protest, a boundary against bodily control and the attitudes that got us here, to this post-Roe reality. Our usual collaborators Kurt Ballou and Brad Boatright worked on it with us. We are also pleased to announce RELEASE THE REST, a limited vinyl compilation of the singles we’ve released since HOLD ON TO YOURSELF, remastered for vinyl by Brad Boatright. September shows!

Hey pals!
We hope you've had a great summer so far!

We're doing well, save for the absolutely destructive and dangerous Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24th. Unreal and yet also totally real. We stand with all who support bodily autonomy and have much more to say on the subject; stay tuned for an announcement about that very soon. 

In the meantime, we're thrilled to be heading out to play two festivals in just a couple of weeks! We already told you about Scorched Tundra XII in Chicago on September 2nd. We're playing the second of the three nights with REZN, THOU, and HUNTSMEN. If you don't already have tickets, get them now!

The very next night, September 3rd, we're at PRFBBQLOU2022 in Louisville! It's another incredible line-up and we truly can't wait. We hope to see all kinds of friends and other bands.

In other news: the first two singles from Buick's forthcoming solo album, Conversations with My Other Voice, have been released! "Afraid of Flying" and "The Melody" can be found anywhere you listen to music. The third single is called "Deadbolt" and is out this Friday, August 19th; pre-save it if you're interested! If you'd like to pre-order the album and book of essays she wrote to accompany it, you can do so now! Both are out on September 23rd.

If you missed it: Jerry released a rad EP of instrumental tracks in April called Track Guy Kloarb 1.1: Origin of Doomkloarb. You can stream and/or buy it here! He also released a cover of "Goro and the Emperor" and made a whole video of himself tracking it during the early shutdown of 2020. Check it out!
